Sore or infected ear? See us today

Ear infections — especially outer-ear infections, sometimes called swimmer's ear — can be painful, itchy and slow to settle. The frustrating part is that a GP appointment can be days or even weeks away, leaving you uncomfortable in the meantime.

At Curo Pharmacy you can be seen the same day. Our pharmacist will examine your ear, talk through your symptoms, and — where it's clinically appropriate — start you on treatment straight away. If it's not something we can treat, or you'd be better seen by a GP or urgent care, we'll tell you honestly and point you in the right direction. No long wait, no guesswork.

Aged 1 to 17? A middle-ear infection may be treated free on the NHS through our Pharmacy First service — we'll always check that route first before anything private.
How it works

Sorted in three simple steps

From a painful ear to a clear plan — here's exactly what happens when you come in.

Step 1

1. We check

Your pharmacist examines the ear and talks through your symptoms to work out what's causing the problem.

  • A proper look at the affected ear
  • Confirms whether it's an infection
  • Honest advice — including if you need a GP
Step 2

2. We treat

Where it's clinically appropriate, we start treatment the same day — so you're not left waiting in discomfort.

  • Same-day treatment where suitable
  • No GP appointment needed
  • We'll refer you on if it's more serious
Step 3

3. You recover

You leave with a clear plan and simple aftercare advice, so your ear can settle as quickly as possible.

  • A clear treatment plan
  • Written aftercare guidance
  • Come back if it doesn't improve

Common questions

How quickly can I be seen?
Most patients are seen the same day — walk in or call ahead. You won't need to wait weeks for a GP appointment.
Do you treat children?
For children aged 1 to 17 with a middle-ear infection, treatment may be available free on the NHS through Pharmacy First — we'll always check that first. Our private service is mainly for adults and situations the NHS service doesn't cover. Babies under 1 should see a GP.
What does the appointment involve?
Your pharmacist will examine your ear, talk through your symptoms, and — where it's clinically appropriate — provide treatment the same day. Not everyone will need or be suitable for treatment; we'll always advise you honestly and refer you to a GP if that's what you need.
How much does it cost?
We'll confirm the cost with you before anything goes ahead — just ask in the pharmacy or when you call. There's no charge for the initial conversation and assessment of whether the service is right for you.
Is this the same as getting antibiotics from the GP?
Ear infections are managed in different ways depending on the cause. Our pharmacist will assess you and recommend the most appropriate option for your situation, or refer you to a GP if that's more suitable.
When should I go to a GP or A&E instead?
Seek urgent medical help if you have severe pain, swelling spreading around the ear, a very high temperature, dizziness or weakness in your face. We'll always refer you on if your symptoms need it.

Don't wait weeks with a sore ear

Walk in during opening hours or call ahead. We'll assess your ear the same day and, where appropriate, get you started on treatment — or point you to the right NHS route.
