About the NHS Flu Vaccination

Flu (influenza) is more than just a heavy cold — it can be serious, especially for older adults, pregnant women, and those with long-term health conditions. The NHS offers free flu vaccinations every year to protect those most at risk.

At Curo Pharmacy, you can have your free NHS flu jab without needing to see your GP. Walk in during our flu campaign (usually September to March) or call ahead to check availability.

Flu Vaccinations FAQs

When should I get my flu vaccine?
The NHS flu campaign typically runs from September through March. Most people aim to have the vaccine in September or October before flu starts circulating widely, but it's never too late during the season.
Will the flu vaccine give me flu?
No — the flu vaccine cannot give you flu. Some people experience mild side-effects like a sore arm or low-grade fever for a day or two, but this is the immune system responding, not the virus.
Can I have the flu vaccine if I'm pregnant?
Yes — flu vaccination is strongly recommended for pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy. It's safe for both you and your baby, and your baby gains some protection too.
Can I have it with my COVID booster?
Yes — in most cases the flu and COVID vaccines can be administered together during the same visit. Just let us know when you arrive.
I'm a carer — am I eligible?
Yes — if you're a carer receiving Carer's Allowance, or you're the main carer for an older or disabled person who would be at risk if you became unwell, you're eligible for a free NHS flu vaccine.
